Licensing FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the rules regarding saving, transferring and sharing ELN licensed files (Content) with others?

Standard Single-User License

  • This option applies to both free and paid downloads and is recommended for freelance independent contractors who have no need to share source files with clients or other developers.
  • The user (you) may purchase and download Content from the eLearning Network® (ELN) for your exclusive use on one primary computer and one secondary location to which only you have access (e.g. laptop, backup site, etc.)
  • You may not send Standard License ELN files, nor any source files in which the ELN files have been placed (e.g. Captivate, Storyline, Lectora, etc.) to any other user. You may only send the Content as compiled in a published eLearning course and from which recipients of the published eLearning course cannot readily extract the Content as a stand-alone reusable file.

Single Client Copy License

  • This option is recommended for users who will only use the Content for one client and the client requires all source files upon project completion.
  • The user, (you) may transfer the ELN Content to one external client, provided that the Content is within an overall course/content package that you have created specifically for this client and provided that the client requires that you provide them with all source files you develop on their behalf.
  • You must also inform the client that you acquired the Content from the eLearning Network® and that they must abide by the ELN Standard Single User License terms.

Enterprise License

  • This option is best for organizations that hire multiple developers who will use the Content across multiple projects.
  • The user (you) who purchases a multi-seat license is entitled to share the Content with an unlimited number of employees within your organization, provided all such users are full time regular employees and agree to be bound by the ELN Licensing Agreement, and that you remain liable for all use by such additional users.

Multi-Client Copy License

  • This option is recommended for those users and organizations who wish to use the Content across multiple projects for multiple clients.
  • The user (you) may transfer the ELN Content to an unlimited number of clients, provided that the Content is packaged within an overall course/content source file package created or customized specifically for each client individually.
  • The original ELN Content must be customized and altered to the extent that it represents a legitimate educational/training course. For example, you may not simply distributed superficially modified ELN files for the purpose of helping others avoid purchasing ELN licenses.
  • You must also inform any clients to whom the files are transferred that you acquired the Content from the eLearning Network® and that by accepting the source file they must in turn abide by the ELN Standard Single User License terms, including registering on the eLearning Network website.

Prohibited Uses for all Licenses

  • You may not distribute Content via stock image websites, eLearning template websites, other web/electronic template sites, and the like.
  • Notwithstanding acceptable uses as defined in the licensing terms, you may not sub-license, give away, or share ELN Content.

You may use it as many times as you wish, subject to the terms of the license you acquire.

You will receive a confirmation email containing download links shortly after your payment is received.

I sell eLearning templates or otherwise want to distribute your source files within products that I sell or give away. Can I use eLearning Network files in this way?

  • No – You may not distribute Content via stock image websites, eLearning template websites, other web/electronic template sites, and the like.
  • Notwithstanding acceptable uses as defined in the licensing terms, you may not sub-license, give away, or share ELN Content.

I create eLearning courses that I license to multiple people/companies. Are there any restrictions on how many courses in which I can use eLearning Network files?

  • You may use eLearning Network files in as many courses as you like. Our primary restriction is that our standard single-user license does not allow for the distribution of our source files. For example, you may publish your final production ready courses and distribute them as you see fit, however, you may not include eLearning Network source files within any eLearning software or other authoring tool source files (Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, PowerPoint, etc.) from which non-license holders can readily extract and reuse eLearning Network files.
  • If you wish to distribute our source files, you simply need to to obtain a different license beyond the standard single-user license.

I develop content for clients who also require that we provide them the source files. How can I do this and still comply with the ELN Licensing Agreement?

When a company and a vendor will both require access to ELN Content, both the company and the vendor must register on the eLearning Network website and either download files that are offered for free, or purchase a Standard or Extended License, depending upon each organization’s needs. In the case of one client and one vendor, the Single Client Copy License would be appropriate.
